What's the difference between the EXO Pro and the EXO Pro Elite?
The Elite raises certified protection from 22 to 23 NRR, adds a 4-hour auto shutoff, a glove-friendly battery door, upgraded PureSeal gel pads that seal more consistently across head shapes, and cleaner audio with less static. Attack time (5ms), multidirectional mics, cheekweld indent, and 300-hour battery life carry over unchanged.
Do these have Bluetooth?
No. The EXO Pro Elite has a 3.5mm AUX input for wired connection to radios, phones, or shot timers. If you want Bluetooth, see the EXO PRO Bluetooth Earmuff.
Are the gel ear pads replaceable?
Yes, they snap in and out, so you can replace them when they wear rather than replacing the earmuffs.
What's the battery life, and are batteries included?
Up to 300 hours on two AAA alkaline batteries, which are included. An LED indicator shows power status, and auto shutoff after 4 hours of inactivity prevents a dead battery from being left on.
Do they seal properly over glasses?
The PureSeal gel pads compress around glasses temples instead of being propped open by them, which is the main reason we use gel over foam. Thin-temple frames seal best.
Will these work with a rifle or shotgun cheek weld?
Yes. The ear cups have an indented lower section specifically so the muff clears your stock without lifting the seal. They're also slim enough for prone and bench shooting.
What does "5ms attack time" actually mean?
Attack time is how quickly the electronics clamp down when a gunshot exceeds the 82 dB threshold. At 5 milliseconds, suppression kicks in roughly 25× faster than typical electronic earmuffs, so less of the impulse reaches your ear before it's cut.
How does the EXO Pro Elite compare to the Howard Leight Impact Sport?
Both are compact, low-profile electronic earmuffs in a similar price range. The EXO Pro Elite carries a higher certified rating (23 NRR vs 22), ships with gel ear pads rather than foam, includes a hard case, and has an indented ear cup designed to clear a rifle stock. Both are independently ANSI-tested.
Is 23 NRR enough for indoor ranges?
For most pistol and rifle shooting outdoors, yes. 23 NRR / 28 SNR is at the higher end for electronic earmuffs. For indoor ranges, especially with rifles or muzzle brakes, we recommend doubling up with foam earplugs underneath. The EXO Pro Elite's electronic amplification means you'll still hear range commands clearly even with plugs in.
